This Lullaby (by Sarah Dessen) Book Review

This Lullaby (Sarah Dessen)

Book Synopsis:

When it comes to relationships, Remy doesn’t mess around. After all, she’s learned all there is to know from her mother, who’s currently working on husband number five. But there’s something about Dexter that seems to defy all of Remy’s rules. He certainly doesn’t seem like Mr. Right. For some reason, however, Remy just can’t seem to shake him. Could it be that Remy’s starting to understand what those love songs are all about?

My Review:

It started quite boring that I became a little confused because of many characters that I don’t even know who delivered the lines. But chapter by chapter, I became enlightened of what’s really going on. I got also confused to what really the song “This Lullaby” symbolizes, I mean, the lyrics itself.

There are so many peaks in the story that you can call climax—the part when Dexter and Remy met at Quick Zip and the part when Remy discovered Don was cheating to her mom.

To be honest, I expected that the end of the story will not be a cliché wherein Remy would have chosen Paul instead of Dexter because Paul is more of a boyfriend material. Nonetheless, Sarah Dessen has given justice to the ending of the story where Remy still pursued going to her dream school, resulting to a LDR with Dexter.

Yes, like the other books that I’ve read, this also gave me that I-want-more-of-their-love-story-why-it-has-ended-so-fast feeling. Bad Dessen, you leave me cliff-hanging. Haha!
