When in Ilocos

Traveling to far places will always be hard for me since I have a job that requires my presence most of the time. But God is so good to give me the opportunity to travel to the northern part of the Philippines despite having a conflict with my schedule.

I am a member of Youth for Christ, and last April 7-9, the community had a very memorable event as more than 7000 delegates from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, Metro Manila, and International Countries gathered in Laoag, Ilocos Norte to proclaim the greatness of our God. I am very lucky, blessed rather, to be part of that event.

Let me share you my unforgettable experience in Ilocos Norte.

The first day of the 3-day event was on April 7, 2017, so we departed as early as evening before the date. It took us 10 hours before arriving in the province of Laoag City. (Btw, I'm from Bulacan)

Day 1: Yey! We arrived safely and went straight to the venue (Marcos Stadium, Laoag, Ilocos Norte) for the opening worship of the event. :)

Day 2: Still enjoying the event even though, obviously, the weather's too hot. I also got the chance to taste their specialty, the Empanada.

Day 3: Well, everything has an end. And we have reached the last day of this year's International Conference. It was bitter-sweet experience to leave the venue. But let me tell you a quote from our event, "Ilocos Norte will never be the same again."

After the event, we went on a sidetrip to some famous places in Ilocos.

Aurora Park, Laoag, Ilocos Norte

Paoay Church in Ilocos

Paoay Church

Calle Crisologo in Vigan, Ilocos Sur

All in all, my experience in Ilocos was truly amazing. People are nice, the foods are good, and the places are wonderful. Visiting this place can bring you a nostalgic feels because of the ambiance brought by old structure of houses and establishments, as well as the roaming "kalesa" everywhere.

Furthermore, you don't need to worry about where you can buy "pasalubongs" to your loved ones because both in Paoay Church and Calle Crisologo, there are lots of small stores that sell keychains. shirts, delicacies, etc.

If you'll ask me if I would go back to Ilocos, I will answer you, YES YES YES! A great experience, indeed!
