Who doesn’t like surprises? Especially when all you have to do is be at the right place at the right time. Now that sounds exciting! This holiday season, Power Mac Center is giving wonderful surprises to everyone who happens to be in their store when the clock strikes 7PM.

As a form of thanksgiving to shoppers, the activity dubbed as “Heaven Sent” will happen every day in select Power Mac Center Metro Manila stores until January 1, 2017. The venue of the surprise is, of course, undisclosed.

Last week, unsuspecting customers of Power Mac Center Greenbelt 3 were treated to a cup of premium hot chocolate to chase the holiday stress away and warm the rather chilly December night. Prior to that, Christmas cookies were given away to spread holiday cheer.

“It was a small gesture but it felt extremely good to see their smiles when they received the surprise. This season is all about giving, so while they are in our store to find gifts to give their loved ones, we, in turn, will make them feel extra special and give them a little token of appreciation for supporting Power Mac Center for the past 22 years,” said Joey Alvarez, Marketing Director of Power Mac Center.

As an insider tip, here are the Power Mac Center retail stores and Apple Authorized Service Provider branches included in the surprise: Greenbelt 3, Glorietta 5, The Annex at SM City North EDSA, SM City Fairview, TriNoma, Robinsons Magnolia, SM Megamall, The Podium, SM Mall of Asia, SM Aura Premier, Festival Supermall, Cash and Carry Mall, SM City Marikina, Power Plant Mall, SM City BF Parañaque, and Northeast Square Greenhills.

So what are you waiting for? Complete your holiday shopping list at a Power Mac Center store and experience a heaven sent surprise from the country’s premier Apple reseller!

We have entered the era of startups. Due to the rapid spread of digital tools, it has become easier to turn an idea into a tangible project. However, the challenge of competing with the big players remains. IPC (IP Converge Data Services, Inc.), a local cloud services and data center pioneer, believes that by enhancing flexibility and mobility through a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system a startup can overcome this hurdle.

According to a January 2015 report by Socialbakers, a global social media analytics company, 66% percent of user generated tweets mentioning brands are now executed through mobile devices. In a June 2016 study made by the social media site, half of their 12,000 respondents took action immediately after seeing a brand tweet. This included visiting the brand’s site or Twitter page. Also, the study revealed that almost 1 in 5 Twitter users will eagerly retweet a tweet that mentions a brand and is contemplating to make a purchase after being exposed to a brand-related tweet, proof that brand-based social engagement does drive consumer behavior.

“Because digital tools such as social media and cloud are more cost-efficient compared to the traditional ways of managing and promoting one’s business, it is usually the route taken by budding businesses. As such, we can consider most startups digital natives. With digital now considered the norm, startups are at an advantage,” said Dave de Leon, Chief Financial Officer and Head of Business Solutions Group of IPC.

My Heart and Other Black Holes

Book Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old physics nerd Aysel is obsessed with plotting her own death. With a mother who can barely look at her without wincing, classmates who whisper behind her back, and a father whose violent crime rocked her small town, Aysel is ready to turn her potential energy into nothingness.

There’s only one problem: she’s not sure she has the courage to do it alone. But once she discovers a website with a section called Suicide Partners, Aysel’s convinced she’s found her solution: a teen boy with the username FrozenRobot (aka Roman) who’s haunted by a family tragedy is looking for a partner.

Even though Aysel and Roman have nothing in common, they slowly start to fill in each other’s broken lives. But as their suicide pact becomes more concrete, Aysel begins to question whether she really wants to go through with it. Ultimately, she must choose between wanting to die or trying to convince Roman to live so they can discover the potential of their energy together. Except that Roman may not be so easy to convince.

My Review:

Yeeeeeey! It's been a while since I finished a book again. My busy schedule at work makes it hard for me to allot time for my babies (my booooks). Anyway, so here's what I wanna share about Jasmine Warga's My Heart and Other Black Holes.

Online shopping is definitely a trend today. There is no greater comfort than the luxury of buying your pleasures without the hassle of going to the mall, being with crowd, and indulging the unending traffic in the Philippines. No wonder why online shops are pop nowadays. You can basically search online shop portals but most of them are just shipping products from the Philippines to other places within the country. But upon searching, I found this site where you can find products from other country and still ship it within the Philippines. The site I’m talking about is USKOOP (https://www.uskoop.com.ph/)

After navigating the Uskoop PH, I saw products that can be found in US that I wish to buy in the site. Let me share my wishlist:

Local pop culture won’t be complete without a mention of SM, a brand which has redefined how Filipinos shop and have fun. Communications app Viber, on the other hand, has changed the way people connect with one another wherever they are in the world.

The past years have seen the launch of many epic global brand collaborations. Though at first an unlikely coupling, these two pop culture trailblazers have come together for a fashion collaboration – a first for both. The result: the SM x Viber Limited Edition Tee Collection.

Inspired by the fun and quirky SM stickers on Viber, the highly popular stickers have made their way into 11 shirts under The SM Store’s Girls Teens Wear (GTW) line.

“Just like our Viber stickers, these shirts are bound to jumpstart conversations,” says Quennie Cua, Vice President for Marketing, The SM Store. “Each design has a pop feel; totally wearable and can be seamlessly incorporated into streetwear and activewear that’s in-demand now,” added Jo Dy Juanco, Senior Vice President, SM Ladies Fashion.

“We’re excited about this partnership,” says Jonjon San Agustin, Senior Vice President, SM Supermalls. “As we are evolving to become a complete lifestyle resource, we’re pleased to offer tees catering to the young and experimental fashionistas – an audience SM wants to speak to.”

AF Payments Inc. announced that it is expanding for the first time to toll ways, with the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) starting its limited public trial on Monday, August 8.

All types of beep™ tap-and-go cards, including PayMaya beep™ cards will be accepted as payment at CAVITEX for the toll fees of Class 1 vehicles. The fee is P24 if exiting in Parañaque, and P64 if in Kawit.

beep™ cards can be purchased or reloaded at the Parañaque Customer Service Center during the public trial phase.

The CAVITEX is a 14-km expressway along the coast of Bacoor Bay, south of Roxas Boulevard. This road project aimed to strengthen the commercial link between Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas, as well as ease traffic in major thoroughfares in the south.

“Extending the use of beep™ cards as a payment option at CAVITEX represents another step towards making the beep™ card an all-in-one travel card for commuters and even private vehicle owners. We hope that the low cost of the beep™ card (P20) and the wide network of loading options being developed will appeal to drivers who pass along CAVITEX and are interested in passing the toll gates more quickly” said Peter Maher, CEO and President of AF Payments Inc.

The Truth About Forever

Book Synopsis:

A long, hot summer…

That’s what Macy has to look forward to while her boyfriend, Jason, is away at Brain Camp. Days will be spent at a boring job in the library, evenings will be filled with vocabulary drills for the SATs, and spare time will be passed with her mother, the two of them sharing a silent grief at the traumatic loss of Macy’s father.

But sometimes, unexpected things can happen—things such as the catering job at Wish, with its fun-loving, chaotic crew. Or her sister’s project of renovating the neglected beach house, awakening long-buried memories. Things such as meeting Wes, a boy with a past, a taste for Truth-telling, and an amazing artistic talent, the kind of boy who could turn any girl’s world upside down. As Macy ventures out of her shell, she begins to question her sheltered life.

Is it really always better to be safe than sorry?

My Review:

Sarah Dessen’s The Truth About Forever is a book about a girl named Macy who is surrounded by control freaks, until she found Wish Catering where she met Wes, who made her realize what she really wanted to do with her life.

This Lullaby (Sarah Dessen)

Book Synopsis:

When it comes to relationships, Remy doesn’t mess around. After all, she’s learned all there is to know from her mother, who’s currently working on husband number five. But there’s something about Dexter that seems to defy all of Remy’s rules. He certainly doesn’t seem like Mr. Right. For some reason, however, Remy just can’t seem to shake him. Could it be that Remy’s starting to understand what those love songs are all about?

My Review:

It started quite boring that I became a little confused because of many characters that I don’t even know who delivered the lines. But chapter by chapter, I became enlightened of what’s really going on. I got also confused to what really the song “This Lullaby” symbolizes, I mean, the lyrics itself.

There are so many peaks in the story that you can call climax—the part when Dexter and Remy met at Quick Zip and the part when Remy discovered Don was cheating to her mom.
Gear up trainers! Pokémon Go is finally available in the Philippines, and it’s time to fulfill your dreams of becoming a Pokémon master! Developed by Niantic Inc., Pokémon Go blends the much beloved world of the classic Pokémon game, with the real physical world through augmented reality. As a player of the game you must start your journey as a Pokémon Trainer to catch Pokémon, train them and eventually become a Pokémon Master. However, unlike other mobile games, Pokémon Go requires you to put more physical effort and even strategy to progress and master the game.

As the game is now officially available in the Philippines after weeks of anticipation, players are more than ready to go out and explore around. But don’t just roam around, be the very best like no one ever was with these tips when starting your Pokémon Go quest.

Always bring extra power – Playing Pokémon Go uses internet either through mobile data or WiFi, GPS to locate you and Pokémon nearby, and even your camera as part of the augmented reality experience, resulting to heavy battery drain when playing the game. It is best to always bring an extra power bank with you to keep your game going.

Hydrate properly – Pokémon Go requires you to go around and explore your surroundings, sometimes even walk or bike 10 kilometers just to hatch a Pokémon egg. Given this, trainers are advised to always bring water and wear comfortable clothes to avoid dehydration. Who knows, you might even need to climb to the top of a nearby hill just to find the Pokémon you’re looking for!

Have fun while being aware of your surroundings – Holding your phone in public can possibly attract thieves who may steal your phone. You might be also too distracted around you when you are enjoying too much of the game so be alert by keeping on the lookout from time to time!

When catching Pokémon, keep the Pokémon centered in your camera frame so you can catch them more accurately. Don’t worry though, Pokeballs can always be acquired in Pokestops, or if you do ever run out of Pokeballs, you can purchase in bulk using Pokecoins. Need Pokecoins?  On Globe you can easily buy more on Google Play via the hassle free Direct Carrier Billing so you can easily charge to your postpaid bill or prepaid credits!

Go to convergence areas for more Pokestops – Pokestops are there to provide you items to help you catch Pokémon, and can sometimes be spots where Pokémon can appear when lure modules are applied. Pokestops are most likely located in nearby convergence areas such as malls, parks, basketball courts or even mural paintings and statues. Pokestops refresh in a few minutes, so just keep on collecting items!

Items are not unlimited – Playing Pokémon Go in the early stage might get you carried away in your excitement to catch Pokémon. Just remember that Pokeballs and other items are not unlimited, so use them wisely.

Soft, moist-looking skin has always been considered attractive. It’s the first thing people notice, and when it glows, skin can be a woman’s powerful secret weapon, says Hillarie, the new Jergens Girl.

Silky-smooth, moisturized skin is not just attractive, it is also healthy. No matter what a woman’s age, supple skin can be achieved with a faithful skincare regimen. Hillarie says good habits, the right moisturizing products and desire to have moist, glowing skin happen will result in dramatic changes to the quality of skin with regular use. Women of all ages can develop greater confidence and a better sense of self when their skin feels soft and moist.

“You can’t stay young forever, but you can control the factors that accelerate the aging process and flaunt young, beautiful skin for the longest time. “Develop good habits. Nix the bad ones. Start by avoiding too much sun exposure, ditch cigarette smoking, eat good food,, drink lots and lots of water and don’t stress yourself, unnecessarily,” she says.

A firm believer in the power of beautiful skin, Hillarie says she tries to take shorter and not-too-hot showers as often as she can. Long, hot showers tend to remove the skin’s moisture and wash away the protective oils, she shares. That’s why she advises women, even when they’re still in their teens, to “moisturize, moisturize, moisturize”.

Hillarie shares a step-by-step skin care regimen that will take care of skin from sunup to sundown:

1.    Moisturize immediately after a warm shower. When the skin is damp, the moisturizer can better seal in the moisture.

Apart from that, you may also want to give the Palm Shutter and Voice Shutter features a try for easier and automatic countdowns.

Of course, don’t forget the Selfie Panorama to capture the whole party in just one shot!

➢     Premium Design, Snappy Performance, Amazing Price

The OPPO A37 is much of a smartphone in its price. It sports a sleek, flowing design, and a durable magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis, elegantly carried out in the compact 136-gram weight device. It also has smooth rear panel. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass on a 5-inch 2.5D display, making it delicate-looking but undeniably tough.

Moreover, it would be a pity to overlook its two excellent cameras, its fully upgraded ColorOS 3.0, its triple-slot tray for two 4G-enabled sims, and of course, its amazing capability of capturing above excellent photographs.

Today’s fast-paced world calls for a reliable house partner that moves with the times. Modern families need extra help to do daily chores more efficiently to spare more time and energy for moments that matter.

Samsung’s Digital Appliances are trusted and dependable partners for time-pressed professionals who strive to balance work and family time. This commitment to efficiency is evident in Samsung’s Twin Cool Refrigerator, which ensures that food stays fresh up to two times longer. This means fresher, better-tasting food at the table and fewer grocery trips for multi-tasking homemakers.

Samsung’s innovative Twin Cooling System controls the refrigerator and freezer independently, which brings superior energy savings and capacity for wiser consumption with each compartment set to its optimal temperature.

The Samsung Twin Cool Refrigerator has a smart conversion feature that gives flexibility for five different conversions modes, including Regular Mode. For instance, users can easily convert the freezer into a fridge to store more groceries in “Fridge Max.” If going on vacation, users can keep only the freezer on with “Vacation.” With the change of season, the “Energy Saving” keeps only the fridge on. Lastly, the “Mini Fridges” is for when there’s not a lot to store, converting the freezer compartment into a fridge.
Let the games begin!

BGC Bus and AF Payments Inc. have announced that BGC Buses are now using the beep™ card system on limited public trial. Commuters who have a beep™ card may already use them to pay for their BGC Bus rides. Fare remains at P12 per ride.

“We are pleased to partner with BGC Bus as this will move us closer to our goal of making the beep™ card an all-in-one card for commuters in Metro Manila. BGC Buses serve thousands of commuters daily and our goal is to be able to provide them with a reliable and efficient payment system, especially those who hop from the MRT or the LRT to the bus,” said Peter Maher, CEO and President of AF Payments Inc.

“BGC Bus commuters can conveniently purchase and load their beep™ cards in the Ayala and Market Market Terminal. This is in addition to selected Bayad Center, Tambunting, Villarica and SM Bills Payment Counter locations, which also offer re-loading services for beep™ cards. There are also plans to add more loading locations in the coming months, including leading convenience stores,” added Maher.
